About the Market

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to provide consumers in LeRoy and surrounding communities with locally grown, fresh, high quality produce and products. To provide local farmers, producers, and artisans with an economic outlet within the LeRoy area. To provide the opportunity to preserve the connection between farmer and consumer, and to educate consumers about the benefits of preserving local agriculture and the benefits of using locally produced foods.

2011 Calendar of Events

We have continued the tradition of bringing important issues out before the public in a variety of ways; newsletters, display boards, handouts, and by our actions as we operate the market. We have also continued a sometimes difficult tradition of bringing free public displays by skilled demonstrators, usually of a Folk Art or Country Living sort, whenever we can get them.

Last year's Sheep-to-Shawl event was, as always, a popular treat! We also hosted an event to celebrate the end of Mark Dean's month-long cross-country solo motorcycle ride to raise awareness and money for cancer research.  Our event alone added $640 to The Ride to Save a Life totals.

We try to keep things interesting by hosting a different-something each week. We've had some popular local performance artists, from Mulligan Stew to the LeRoy Kitchen Band, and others throughout the last year

Committee & Sub-committee info

The Market Master works in partnership with an involved 8-member committee to ensure that the Market is fiscally sound and that our operations meet the needs and interests of our vendors and their customers.  The LeRoy Farmers' Market Committee created the market and is ultimately responsible for its continuing operation.

Interested in serving your community? A position on the LFMC is a great way to do that. Ask a current member how you can get involved.

Various Subcommittees help the Market by taking on selected important tasks. There are none active at present. Previous subcommittees include; the Quilt Square Committee, the Website Creation---, the Building---, the Cookbook---, and the Holiday Market Committee, etc.
